What Does Each Digit Mean in a VIN
A VIN is composed of 17 characters, each representing specific information about the vehicle. Here’s a breakdown of what each digit typically means:

- World Manufacturer Identifier (WMI): The first three characters identify the manufacturer and the country of origin.
- Vehicle Descriptor Section (VDS): Characters 4 through 9 provide information about the vehicle model, body type, restraint system, transmission type, and engine code.
